Heidi Klum has mixed feelings about her 18-year-old daughter going to college in New York, calling herself “sad” but “proud.”
The 49-year-old jury of “America’s Got Talent” told “Entertainment Tonight” on Monday that Leni “set her head on the right track”.
Klum explained, “Right now, college is at the top of the list. It’s not modeling, and she’s really excited about that next chapter in her life.
“Unfortunately, she is leaving home,” continues the model, who is also the mother of sons Henry, 16, and Johan, 15, and daughter Lou, 12. “Which is sad, of course, but at the same time… she’s had enough [guts] to go for it.”
The former “Project Runway” host commented that the teen feels comfortable in Manhattan because they lived there while she filmed the Bravo show.
“I think she will have a good time, but my heart will be sad,” Klum told the outlet.
In June, the Emmy winner called her oldest child “brave” for choosing to take the step.
“I’m just proud of her because she’s… the first one to leave the nest and really follow her dreams,” she explained to “Extra” at the time.
The Former Victoria’s Secret Angel appeared on the show “Today” days later, she told Jenna Bush Hager and Willie Geist that Leni “just got to the school she’d always wanted to go to,” though she didn’t name the university.
Leni graduated from high school that same month and the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl shared images of the ceremony via Instagram.

Leni’s biological father is Flavio Briatore, but Klum’s ex-husband Seal adopted her in 2009.
