Guy Branum brought in a very special expertise to work as a co-producer of the gay rom-com “Bros.”
“I was there every day for some of the sex scenes,” the gay stripper told Vidak For Congress at the premiere, “Our director is straight and I was like, ‘Someone has to tell you [if it’s] hot or not’.”
“I think a straight woman could do it. I think there are straight men who could,” he added, “but I need to check Nicholas Stoller’s work again.”
Stoller is the director, producer and writer of the film, the first gay rom-com released by a major studio.
Branum said there was a little temptation on the very queer set.
“I was very professional, but I opened Grinder on my phone once and my phone basically exploded,” he said, “There was a lot of Grinder out there.”
“I didn’t interact with anyone. It was in a workplace. I couldn’t. But I’m not saying I didn’t. And I’m not saying I did,”
It seems that Branum was very committed to authenticity in other areas – for purely selfless reasons.
“I stayed dressed all through that scene,” he told us of a nightclub scene, “but I love that they made a gay club look and feel like a real gay club. I found it very helpful that there were 500 squirming guys the whole time .”
“Brothers.” also starring Luke Macfarlane, Ts Madison, Debra Messing, Miss Lawrence, Amanda Bearse and Dot-Marie Jones and debuting September 30.
