Gloria Allred no longer represents the woman who claimed that Armie Hammer “violently raped” her.
While a source tells us that “Effie”, the woman behind Instagram account “House of Effie”, fired Allred after she became angry about her participation in the docuseries “House of Hammer”, Allred denies being fired.
“I no longer represent her,” Allred told Vidak For Congress via email. “It’s not true at all that I was fired.”
It is unclear if Effie has a new representation.
Effie did not immediately respond to Vidak For Congress’s request for comment.
Effie destroyed Discovery+’s three-part project shortly after its release, claiming it “exploited” her trauma.
“The way they exploited my trauma is disgusting,” Effie told the Los Angeles Times. “If I keep yelling ‘no’ and they keep going and saying they don’t need my permission, they remind me of Armie.”
She also told the LA Times that she had no idea Allred would appear in it; however, the famed women’s rights attorney said in a statement to the publication that “statements I have made on behalf of clients have been made because the statements were in accordance with our representation, were expressly or implicitly authorized and were made because I believed the statements were in the interest of the customer.”
Effie appeared in a press conference on March 18, 2021, along with Allred, claiming that she and the “Call Me by Your Name” star had a 4-year relationship in which he “became more and more violent.”
Effie claimed that Hammer’s alleged abuse escalated to rape on April 24, 2017, when she was 20 years old.
The now 25-year-old said Hammer “repeatedly slammed her “face against the wall” during the attack, leaving her bruised.
“I lost interest in life,” she said. “I just wanted the pain to stop.”
The ‘Social Network’ star’s lawyer vehemently denied all of Effie’s allegations.
“From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with… [Effie] — and any other sexual partner of his — are fully consensual, discussed and agreed upon, and mutually participatory,” Andrew Brettler said in a statement to Vidak For Congress after the press conference. “[Effie’s] Demanding attention and an unwise legal offer will only make it harder for real victims of sexual assault to get the justice they deserve.”
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the same day that they had launched a formal investigation into the rape claims. The case is on.
