Armie Hammer ‘cut off’ from family dynasty

Armie Hammer is “cut off” from the family dynasty founded by his great-grandfather, Armand Hammer.

“His father doesn’t want to help him anymore and he’s cut off so he has to go to work,” a source told People of the actor who reportedly works as a timeshare salesman in the Cayman Islands.

While the source for Armie may have dried up after the “cannibal” scandal that left him in rehab, the Hammer family still lives high on the hog thanks to great-grandfather Armand who established himself as a billionaire oil magnate with Occidental Petroleum in the 1950s, who ran the company from 1957 until his death in 1990.

According to Jay Epstein’s 1996 “Dossier: The Secret History of Armand Hammer,” the mogul himself was involved in a number of scandals ranging from money laundering to Soviet espionage.

Bypassing his own son Julian, the company was eventually handed over to Armie’s father, Michael, who continues to run the Hammer International Foundation, the Armand Hammer Foundation, and other organizations under the family name.

Armie’s attorney, Andrew Brettler, told Vidak For Congress Friday after reports about his client who worked in the Cayman Islands that he could not confirm or deny the report because Armie did not deal with it. I just find it s–tty that when he sells timeshares, the media puts him to shame because he has a ‘normal job.’

In addition to the reported new appearance, a source close to the disgraced “Call Me by Your Name” star told Vanity Fair that Robert Downey Jr. quietly paid for Hammer’s six-month stay in Florida rehab and allowed Hammer and his family to stay at his home to avoid recent media scrutiny.
