Florence Pugh is not afraid to loosen the nipple.
In July, the “Don’t Worry Darling” star attended the Valentino Haute Couture fashion show in a sheer pink tulle dress, tailored by designer Pierpaolo Piccioli without a lining.
Trolls quickly flooded her Instagram comments, and she shared about the experience in her new Harper’s Bazaar cover story.
“I felt comfortable with my small breasts,” she said. “And showing them like this – it got worse” [people] that I felt comfortable.”
Pugh, 26, continued: “It was just alarming how disturbed they were. They were so angry that I was confident, and they wanted me to know that they would never jerk off to me. Well, don’t.”
This isn’t the first time Pugh has touched on the subject of her unforgettable Barbie pink dress.
She defended the look in a lengthy Instagram post filled with wacky photos, writing at the time, “Listen, I knew when I was wearing that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way not to comment on it. Be it negative or was positive, we all knew what we were doing. I was excited to wear it, not a wink from me was nervous. I wasn’t before, during or even after.”
Pugh continued: “It’s not the first time and it certainly won’t be the last time a woman will be told by a crowd of strangers what’s wrong with her body. The disturbing thing is how vulgar some of you men can be. Fortunately, I have come to terms with the intricacies of my body that make me who I am. I’m happy with all the ‘flaws’ I couldn’t bear to look at when I was 14.”
Many celebrities supported her, including Regé-Jean Page and Jessica Chastain. The former urged men to check themselves, while the latter asked, “Why is it so threatening for some men to realize that women can love our bodies without your consent? We are not yours.”
Elsewhere in her Harper’s Bazaar interview, the fiery star confirms that she split from her boyfriend Zach Braff earlier this year after nearly three years of dating — and spoke again about the hurtful comments she received about their 11-year age difference.
“We’ve been trying to get this divorce through without the world knowing because it’s been a relationship that everyone has an opinion about,” Pugh said. “We just felt like something like that would really benefit us if we didn’t have millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together.”
Not only did Pugh hit back at haters of her style and her choice of men, but also those who only care about the sex scenes she has with Harry Styles in the duo’s upcoming movie, directed by Styles’ girlfriend, Olivia Wilde.
“That’s just not what I’m going to talk about because [this movie is] bigger and better than that. And the people who made it are bigger and better than that,” Pugh said.
