‘DWTS’ Alum Peta Murgatroyd Reveals IVF Transfer Didn’t Work

Peta Murgatroyd says she had “one of the saddest moments” of her life when she recently learned that her in vitro fertilization transfer did not result in a successful pregnancy.

The 36-year-old “Dancing With the Stars” revealed in an emotional video posted on Instagram on Tuesday that 10 days after she had an embryo transfer, doctors called her to tell her the bad news that there was no baby.

“A little part of me died on the side of the road that day,” Murgatroyd captioned the clip.

“I had to spin my head that I had been preparing for this for months and that I came out with nothing. I left empty-handed.”

The pro dancer, who is married to fellow “DWTS” alum Maksim Chmerkovskiy, opened up about the heartbreaking situation in the video’s caption.

“When you think you’ve got it, it hits you in the face and you have to start over,” she wrote. “I keep learning that ‘God’s plans will always be more beautiful than all your disappointments’…I must keep believing that.”

Murgatroyd added that when doctors first showed her their baby during the first day of the transfer, it felt “final” and she started imagining what life would be like with another child.

“I really thought this would work,” said the blonde beauty, who shares 5-year-old son Shai with Chmerkovskiy.

“Looking into Maks’s eyes as he cried, seeing our baby together… made this experience so rewarding, even if it didn’t go the way we hoped.”

Murgatroyd also told fans that she has taken the “necessary steps to start the healing process” and posted a clip of her surfing with her son.

“This too will pass. I want to thank you all for joining me on this journey,” she concluded. “I can’t tell you how much your guidance and advice has helped me navigate my first round of IVF. “

Murgatroyd revealed to People in June that she would be documenting her IVF journey after suffering three miscarriages in the past two years.

“I have no words other than hope and positivity,” the founder of Peta Jane said at the time. “I’m crossing my fingers that this is going to work.”
