Driver identified in I-280 wrong-way crash that left one woman dead, one teen with ‘major’ injuries

One woman is dead and one teen has major injuries after a wrong way crash.

The California Highway Patrol said that a woman was arrested after a wrong way driving incident on I 280 near San Mateo.

A white 2010 Ford sedan was travelling north on I 280. It crashed into a black BMW SUV in the fourth lane near State Route 92. The driver of the BMW was killed in the crash. She was described as a woman in her 40s. A 14 year old boy was in the front passenger seat of a car when he was injured and was taken to a hospital.

The person behind the wheel was later identified as a woman from Campbell. Martin was accused of vehicular manslaughter. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. A toxicology report is pending and police don’t know if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

The three lanes that were closed for over an hour were reopened at 6 p.m. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes due to heavy traffic in the area. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call the office.

There was another one in the North Bay on Saturday morning. A truck heading north crashed into another vehicle.
