Twitter users have become convinced Harry Styles spat on Chris Pine’s lap in a now-viral video from the “Don’t Worry Darling” co-stars at the Venice Film Festival premiere Monday.
In the footage, the former One Direction member, 28, took the empty seat next to Pine, who had director Olivia Wilde on his other side.
After the “Late Night Talking” singer seemingly aimed his saliva at the 42-year-old actor, Pine froze halfway through the blow and stared into his lap with a smile before laughing to himself.
Styles, for his part, avoided eye contact with the ‘Wonder Woman’ star in the video and waved to other onlookers behind them.
“I can’t look away, help”, a Twitter user wrote of the images, while another added that they “will not sleep until” [they] know the truth.”
While some believe Styles is “spitting 100 percent” on Pine, others expressed their insecurity.
“Do people really think Harry walked over there and decided to spit on Chris for no reason in front of several people?” a fan tweeted. ‘and Chris didn’t move to wipe it and just sat there smiling and laughing? be damn serious.”
Another given a possible explanationwriting: “Chris Pine was just wondering where his sunglasses were after the applause. And he broadcast (as he has all day) realizing: [sic] it’s on his lap. So I’m sorry to say that Harry Styles didn’t spit on him.”
The ‘Contractor’ star made headlines this past weekend for his behavior at the premiere, from broadcasting while Styles answered questions at a press conference to shooting Florence Pugh with a Polaroid camera on the red carpet.
The cast ended up filming “Don’t Worry Darling” in February, a month after news broke that Wilde, 38, and Styles were dating.
In July, a lot speculation about drama between Pugh, 26, and Wilde over the romance on set.
Wilde hinted at more drama on set in a leaked video where she tried to convince the film’s original lead actor, Shia LaBeouf, to stay on after he quit.
“I think this might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re open to giving this a shot with me, with us,” said the “OC” alum in the footage, who was filmed in her car in August 2020.
“If she’s really committed, if she’s really putting her heart and heart into it right now, and if you two can make peace — and I respect your point of view, I respect hers — but if you can do it, what do you do? you think?
The video leaked after Wilde told Variety that she was the one who fired LaBeouf, 36, to keep her cast “safe” from the “warring energy” of the “Even Stevens” alum.
