Dane Cook and his longtime girlfriend, Kelsi Taylor, are engaged.
The stand-up comedian introduced herself on Wednesday, July 13, after five years of dating.
“I was so ready to ask her. I was totally zen about it,” Cook, 50, told People. “The evening of the proposal was incredibly beautiful, the weather was perfect, the sunset was spectacular and I was just really happy.”
Speaking of the milestone moment, he added: “I asked my best friend, the woman I shared some of the best times of my life with, to marry me so we can start the next chapter of our lives together. I also thought about how absolutely gorgeous she looked.”
The 23-year-old fitness instructor told the publication she was shocked when Cook pulled a box from his pocket.
“I was also just very focused on what he was saying to me, because I was desperately trying to etch the words into my brain,” she recalls. “They were so beautiful, I really wanted to enjoy them.”
The “Employee of the Month” star got down on one knee in York Beach, Maine, which held a special place in their hearts for being one of the first places they traveled to when they first started dating.
“It’s a place I spent a lot of time growing up, so I have such fond memories of it,” Cook said.
The “Good Luck Chuck” star previously shook off questions about the couple’s 27-year age difference, quipped, “All you have to do is plan your death to be a little far apart.”
