Chris Rock’s brother may have no idea if the comic is dating Lake Bell, but he’s overjoyed that people care enough about gossip.
“As a brother I am very happy for him because number one, nobody cares who the ugly guys are dating. Nobody cares who the ugly celebrities are dating. So the fact that this is getting so much attention, I’m like, ‘Damn, they must think my brother is really handsome,'” Tony Rock joked to TMZ in an interview published Tuesday. “So I’m glad he’s in this new, handsome light state.”
Tony, who is also a comedian, continued: “They’ve never put him in the handsome box before but to give af-k who he’s dating he has to be in the handsome box now so I’m very happy for him.”
Tony, 48, then joked about Chris, 57, being linked to “a white girl”, saying: “He’s extra handsome, I think, because she likes him too, and they usually don’t like us.”
But Tony said his big brother hasn’t spoken to him about the rumors he’s seeing Bell – let alone mentioning the “In a World…” star, 43.
‘I don’t know who she is. Is she an actress? … I haven’t met her,” Tony said of Bell, adding to the dating speculation, “I’ve never heard anything. All I’ve heard, all I’ve seen, was the things that people see when you open the papers and magazines, and I’m like, ‘Okay, I think this is big.’”
Anyway, Tony said he’s “absolutely looking forward” to meeting Bell when things get serious between her and Chris.
“I’m just happy to see him happy, and the fact that people are concerned about who he’s dating must mean people have a favorable view of him these days,” he added.
The duo first raised eyebrows when they were spotted together in June at Busch Stadium in St. Louis before a Cardinals game.
Over the weekend of July 4, they added fuel to the fire when Vidak For Congress published exclusive photos of them leaving a dinner date at celebrity hotspot Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California.
Chris, who made headlines in March when Will Smith slapped him at the 2022 Oscars, has yet to say if he’s in a relationship with the ‘Boston Legal’ alumnus.
The former “Saturday Night Live” star was married to Malaak Compton-Rock from 1996 to 2016 and they share two daughters: Lola, 20, and Zahara, 18. Bell, meanwhile, is in the midst of a divorce from Scott Campbell, with whom she has daughter Nova. (7) and son Ozgood (5) share.
