Cheer star Jerry Harris has been ordered to register as a sex offender after serving 12 years in prison for sexual offenses involving minors.
Under the verdict obtained by Vidak For Congress, the former Navarro cheerleader will also have to participate in a sex offender treatment program and will not be allowed to come into contact with any of the minors involved in the case.
In addition, Harris, 22, must enroll in a mental health treatment program and take all prescribed medications.
Last week, the Netflix star was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of receiving child pornography and one count of traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
During his sentencing, he told the court that he regretted his decisions and apologized to the victims.
He added: “I am ashamed to know that I have taken advantage of your youth and weakness. I was wrong and selfish. I’ve done you harm and I don’t blame anyone.”
Harris was arrested in September 2020 after the FBI raided his home in Naperville, Illinois and charged him with producing child pornography. He also allegedly asked for sex from minors at cheerleading competitions and forced teenage boys to send him inappropriate photos.
In February 2022, he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a boy, 15, and paying another, 17, to send him sexually explicit photos and videos.
The hit Netflix show followed the Navarro College cheerleaders’ journey to competitions and even covered Harris’s arrest in season two.
Cheer coach Monica Aldama said on the show that Harris wrote her a letter expressing his desire to become a motivational speaker.
“I want to be supportive,” Almada explained, “Yet I’m so disappointed…I have all these emotions just fighting each other.”
