Anne Heche’s famous friends express their love for the actress after her tragic death.
The 53-year-old died on Friday after suffering “a severe anoxic brain injury” from a fiery car accident on Aug. 5.
Heche’s representative broke the news in a statement, saying: “We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother and a loyal friend. Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work and her passionate advocacy.
“Her courage to always stand in her truth and spread her message of love and acceptance will have a lasting impact.”
Following the announcement, friends and fans of the late actress took to social media to pay tribute to the mother of two.
Nancy Davis, founder and designer of Peace & Love Jewelry by Nancy Davis, posted a sweet photo of the two on Instagram: “Heaven has a new Angel. My loving, kind, fun, endearing and beautiful friend @anneheche went to the heaven. I will miss her terribly and cherish all the wonderful memories we shared. Anne was always the kindest, most thoughtful person who always brought out the best in me.”
Davis recalled Heche as “supportive,” adding, “My heart is broken.”
Just a day before her death, representatives for the actress told Vidak For Congress that she “didn’t expect to survive” having “gone into a coma” following the wreckage.
After getting a warrant to test her blood, Los Angeles police revealed the star was under the influence of cocaine and possibly fentanyl when her Mini Cooper struck a residential home before catching fire.
However, police told TMZ that the traces of fentanyl may have been the result of painkillers administered in the hospital for her severe burns.
Eyewitnesses say the actress crashed three times over 30 minutes before hitting the house. She first crashed into a garage in a nearby apartment complex before running away and hitting another vehicle.
Shortly after, a neighbor’s camera shows the “Another World” star hurtling down the residential street before the big crash.
The investigation escalated into a felony DUI after the woman at the home claimed she was injured and needed medical attention after the incident.
Photos and videos of the wreckage show the star burning back as it is taken away on a stretcher. The area was covered in smoke as nearly 60 firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
The actress is survived by her two sons, Homer, 20, and Atlas, 13, and other relatives.
