Happy Birthday, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas!
The ‘Chicago’ star took to Instagram to give fans a glimpse of how she and her husband celebrated their joint birthday on Sunday.
Zeta-Jones was 53, while Douglas was 78.
“It is our birthday!!” the actress gushed in one of her posts. “After 24 years of celebrating our special day together, I’m still looking forward to it, I love you!!! a la vote!!!!!!!!!!”
Zeta-Jones later shared a video of her and Douglas heading to an undisclosed location in a private jet.
The approximately 15-second clip opened with the actress declaring, “It’s our birthday!” before going to Douglas and saying, “Happy Birthday, honey!”
The actor jumped in and said, “Happy Birthday, honey!” as he raises a thumbs up from his seat a few feet away.
Douglas, for his part, also recognized the occasion with a celebratory Instagram post in which the couple hugged near the Taj Mahal.
“Congratulations Catherine! I love you always and forever ❤️”, he captioned the caption.
The two Hollywood legends met in 1998 at a film festival. Douglas later managed to make things a little awkward at the time, in a serious effort to love his now-wife.
“I said to her after about half an hour: [into hanging out for the first time]”You know, I’m going to be the father of your children,” he recalled during an appearance on “The Jonathan Ross Show” in 2016.
“And she said, ‘You know, I’ve heard a lot about you and I’ve seen a lot about you, and I think it’s time to say goodnight.'”
Fortunately for both, Zeta-Jones was eventually able to look past the “Basic Instinct” star’s initial arrogance and accept a date with the actor.
Years later, the couple tied the knot in 2000. They share two children: son Dylan, 22, and daughter Carys, 19.
