The new British Prime Minister, Liz Truss, shared that Buckingham Palace will deliver serious news today following the announcement that Queen Elizabeth II has been placed under medical supervision.
Truss, who was sworn in as prime minister on Tuesday, would have been informed of the queen’s condition during her presentation in the House of Representatives on Thursday.
“The whole country will be deeply concerned this luncheon over the news of Buckingham Palace,” Truss said. tweeted.
She added: “My thoughts – and the thoughts of people in our UK – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at the moment.”
Truss tweeted the statement just five minutes after Buckingham Palace confirmed that doctors are “concerned” about the health of the 96-year-old monarch.
Truss met with the Queen on Tuesday, along with former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. She and the monarch were seen shaking hands in a photo at Balmoral Castle. However, the Queen was forced at the last minute to postpone a Privy Council meeting after doctors suggested she step back.
A spokesman for the royal family announced in a statement on Thursday morning that the queen has been placed under medical supervision after doctors became concerned about her health.
“Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned about Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and in Balmoral,” the royal spokesman said.

Her Majesty has had to miss several royal engagements in the past year amid escalating health concerns.
She was hospitalized overnight in October 2021 and began using a walking stick for her “comfort,” a source told us at the time.
She tested positive for COVID-19 in February and then had to scale back her performances at the Platinum Jubilee festivities in June due to feelings of “discomfort.”
The Queen returned to her royal duties in March, but stepped back again after experiencing mobility issues just two months later.
Her eldest son, Charles, 73, is the heir apparent to the British throne. The Queen declared in February that the Prince of Wales’s wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, is ready to take on the title of ‘Queen Consort’.
