“She’s very much like a housewife in that she can’t stop talking about what she wants to be irrelevant,” said Frankel, 51.
“[It’s like] when you want to separate yourself from the housewives. “It was toxic, I don’t want to be part of the drama,” or whatever the housewife says. [But] then…for the next five years, always talking about whatever you’re trying to free yourself from.”
Frankel continued: “If you leave the royal family, leave the royal family. You learned something, you said it, we heard you. … and [still] in every interview you do you talk about the royal family. Let it go Elsa. Go forward. Create change in the future.”
The former reality star appeared to be responding to Markle’s bombshell interview with “The Cut,” in which the mother of two reportedly called out racist media attention to her children.
Markle describes her internal conflict when she had to share family photos with the same British media outlets whose readers reportedly called her children racist comments.
“Why would I give the people who call my children the N-word a picture of my child before I can share it with the people who love my child?” the 41-year-old asked. “You tell me how that makes sense and then I play that game.”
Frankel praised the former actress for talking about her experiences: “It’s good for people to know that racism exists everywhere, but that’s not something we are surprised about. For example, if you tell me that racism exists in the royal family, I’m not shocked.”
Due to strict rules and media scrutiny, Markle and Prince Harry “stepped back” from their duties as senior royals in 2020, a move the “Suits” alum claims Harry “lost” his relationship with his father, Prince Charles.
“Harry said to me, ‘I lost my father in this process.’ It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it is for me, but that’s his decision,” she said when speaking about her own strained relationship with her father, Thomas Markle.
When asked if reconciliation was possible, Markle replied: “I think forgiveness is very important. It takes a lot more energy not to forgive. But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I really tried my best, especially knowing that I can say anything.”
A source later told Vidak For Congress that Markle was trying to say she doesn’t want Harry, 37, to lose his father.
The former royals married in 2018 and have since welcomed two children, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1.
