Bethenny Frankel is not a fan of the ‘Real Housewives of Dubai’ reunion outfits.
“This is a costume party,” 51-year-old “Real Housewives of New York City” said on her Instagram Story Wednesday, zooming in on the women watching the season 1 reunion.
“This is insane. I mean… literally, as Andy [Cohen] wasn’t there, I’d think this is a costume party. Which show is this? What is going on? This is hysterical.”
The Bravolebrity compared the look of the latest ‘Housewives’ franchise to those of the early days of ‘RHONY’ – of which she was an original cast member.
“I want you to know” [on] Seasons 1 to 3 of ‘Housewives,’ we would do our own makeup and I would wear a cable knit sweater,” she said. “Like, the outfits we were wearing were just out of our closet for the reunion.”
Frankel then encouraged her 2.7 million followers to go back and look at the outfits the early ‘Housewives’ stars wore, adding that the ‘RHODubai’ women ‘took it to the next level’. .
The “RHODubai” women received mixed reviews for their outfits – which did not appear to be color-matched, unlike the stars of other “Housewives” franchises.
“Is [Caroline] Is Stanbury going to a network mixer?’ one fan commented on her black-and-silver Galia Lahav skirt set.
“💚💚 Chanel [Ayan] and Lesa [Milan] 🔥🔥🔥💚 Got the brief,” wrote another of that duo’s matching yellow feather dresses of Michael Cinco and Valdrin Sahiti respectively.
“Nina. Stylish as ALWAYS,” someone wrote about Nina Ali’s glittering Pol’ Atteu dress.
Other fans had differing opinions on Caroline Brooks’ choice to wear a silver pearl crown to match her over-the-top XBL dress. Most fans also seemed to enjoy Dr. Sara Al Madani’s sparkling caped creation by Pol’ Atteu.
“RHODubai” may be Bravo’s newest “Housewives” franchise, but as Frankel noted, during the early reunions, ladies from the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” or the “Real Housewives of Orange County” wore button-up shirts, leggings, faded dresses, or outfits that some women wear to work.
Mr. “Housewives” also admitted that the early “Housewives” fashion was “just awful”.
“If you look at the early years of reunions, Orange County, Atlanta and New York, they actually wore — I don’t even think what they would wear to a cocktail party. I think it was more what they would wear to a PTA meeting,” Cohen told Vanity Fair in January.
The 54-year-old ‘Watch What Happens Live’ host added that the Bravo stars are now treating their appearance as if it were ‘prom’.
