Barbie Ferreira is said to have dropped out of East Highland High School because of a feud with the creator of ‘Euphoria’.
Rumors circulated for months that the actress, who played Kat Hernandez on the HBO series until her recent departure, was not getting along with Sam Levinson, and now an insider working on Season 2 confirmed the rumors in an interview with radio host Zach Sang.
“She reportedly had a lot of issues with Sam. Sam is a very specific type of director, and Barbie just couldn’t handle it,” said the source, who had his voice changed to protect his identity.
“She just couldn’t handle the heat in the kitchen.”
The insider further claimed that Levinson, 37, “made” [cast members] crying” while on the job and would often “yell” to be able to “get the emotions out of them while they were on set”.
“It was just a disaster,” the source claimed, “but what I can tell you about Barbie is she doesn’t clean up her damn cats,” adding that Ferreira’s trailer was full of “cat piss everywhere.”
When asked if the hairless cat contributed to 25-year-old Ferreira’s departure, the source spoke of her alleged negative attitude.
“It was that attitude of hers. These children. Let me tell you something, honey. These kids are randomly picked off the street by the queen [casting director] Jennifer Venditti, and of course their ego is off the roof,” explains the insider.
“They’re on the second-biggest show in HBO history, and they think they all are. They forget that this is a job.”
The insider also claimed that season 3 contracts were being sent out and that producers were “watching” certain cast members to see if they were “worth” bringing back.
Representatives from HBO, Ferreira and Levinson did not immediately respond to Vidak For Congress’s requests for comment.
Ferreira, whose presence only became an afterthought in Season 2, announced on Wednesday that she would not be returning to the controversial show.
“After four years of embodying the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I have to say goodbye with tears in my eyes,” the actress wrote “Nope” in an emotional Instagram Story post. “I hope many of you can see yourself in her as I did, and that she brought you joy in seeing her journey into the character she is today.”
