Anne Heche was reportedly under the influence of cocaine and possibly fentanyl at the time of her horrific car accident last Friday.
Los Angeles Police Department sources told TMZ on Thursday that the actress’s blood test results were positive for both substances.
However, law enforcement insiders warned that fentanyl may have been administered to Heche in the hospital to help manage her pain after the accident, so they will be doing more testing to determine if the fentanyl was in her system at the time of the crash.
The actress was not under the influence of alcohol, TMZ reports, despite a photo taken shortly before the accident that showed a red cap in the cup holder of Heche’s car.
In addition, the outlet described her condition as “barely” as she has “not improved” since being hospitalized last week.
The LAPD did not immediately respond to Vidak For Congress’s request for comment.
A representative from Heche declined to comment.
On Wednesday, officials escalated their investigation into a DUI crime after the woman whose home Heche, 53, crashed into, claimed she was injured and in need of medical attention.
We confirmed Monday that the department had been ordered to test the actress’s blood to determine if she was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs when she plowed her blue Mini Cooper into a Los Angeles home and released a huge lit fire.
Later that day, her representative told us she was “in critical condition.”
“Shortly after the accident, Anne Heche became unconscious and fell into a coma,” her spokesperson said.
“She has a significant lung injury that requires mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgery.”
It’s unclear how much progress doctors have been able to make.
