“The Breakfast Club” is officially over – according to co-host Angela Yee.
Yee sent shockwaves across social media on Tuesday night with a cryptic tweet, as she suggested there was bad news for fans of the popular radio talk show.
“The breakfast club as you know it is officially over,” says the 46-year-old tweeted.
The popular morning show Power 105.1 FM is broadcast on more than 100 stations nationwide and attracts more than 8 million listeners monthly, according to data from Nielsen.
Although Yee kept her tight-lipped about the cryptic announcement, she tweeted “God is good!” only 15 minutes in advance.
Yee’s co-hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy have not yet commented.
In August 2020, The Breakfast Club was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.
“What an achievement! …And to everyone who listens to us in the morning and is part of our family, thank you so much for this honor!” Yee wrote on Instagram at the time.
Charlamagne said: “All praise and glory to God and sincere thanks and thanks to everyone who listens to us on the radio, via podcast, YouTube, but you consume your breakfast, THANK YOU for being part of our club.”
The show’s YouTube channel, featuring short and full clips from the morning program, has over 5.15 million subscribers since its launch in 2010.
