Ana de Armas is starting to take on character.
At the world premiere of her upcoming Marilyn Monroe movie “Blonde” at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday, the actress stunned in a deep pink Louis Vuitton gown reminiscent of one of Monroe’s most memorable looks.
With its halter neckline and billowing pleated skirt, the Armas’ dress was similar in style to the iconic white frock the platinum-haired Hollywood bombshell wore onscreen in 1955’s “The Seven Year Itch.”
The shade of pink, meanwhile, seemed to pay homage to Monroe’s 1953 film “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” — and the Armas went all out on “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” with her choice of accessories.
She paired Messika’s “Firebird” necklace, with a 5-carat cushion-cut stone in the center and 100 marquise-cut diamonds forming “wings,” with an equally sparkling diamond bracelet from the same jeweler.
On Wednesday, the Armas also seemed to be paying a subtle tribute to Monroe with her festival outfit: a navy Louis Vuitton blazer in a nautical style paired with matching high-waisted shorts, a favorite silhouette of the late movie stars.
Based on Joyce Carol Oates’ bestselling book, “Blonde” will sport a controversial NC-17 rating and see the Armas slip into some of Monroe’s best-loved looks, including the two she seemed to reference with her premiere attire.
The ‘Knives Out’ actress has said she spent three hours each day practicing Monroe’s accent in preparation for the role, even wearing a bald cap each day of the shoot so that her own dark brown hair didn’t show under her many blond wigs.
The biopic will be released on Netflix on September 28.
