Alyssa Farah Griffin, who served as White House communications director for former President Donald Trump, has reportedly been named Meghan McCain’s permanent replacement on “The View.”
The 33-year-old political adviser will begin her role as the conservative voice of the ABC daytime talk show when the new season begins in September, The Daily Mail reported Tuesday.
In a statement to Vidak For Congress, an ABC spokesperson said, “We have no co-host announcement to make at this time. Stay tuned.”
Earlier this month, a source told The Post exclusively that an official announcement for the conservative co-host of “The View” was imminent.
“You start seeing familiar faces over and over,” the insider said on July 2. “I would expect an announcement before the season ends on August 5.”
The source added: “When you watch the show, you can see people coming back regularly to join the co-hosts at the table. It’s an invaluable experience for the show. And it was always the plan to make it happen.” make sure they were seated at the table.”
Griffin was one of those guest co-hosts who frequented the panel and was often regarded as the frontrunner – with former GOP communications director Tara Setmayer close behind.
However, when the LA resident made her presence more known on “The View,” her past allegiance to 76-year-old Trump sparked controversy.
Comedian Wanda Sykes has reportedly canceled her appearance on the show because Griffin would be co-host at the time.
“She didn’t want to be part of helping a Trumper whitewash her reputation,” a source told The Daily Beast last week.
Even “View” co-host Sunny Hostin has called out Griffin for her past work.
During a discussion about the Jan. 6 commission hearings, the attorney pushed back criticism from the CNN political commentator that “so few” people had come forward to dispute Trump’s claims that the 2020 election had been stolen. .
“I know there are people like you and others who are coming forward now, but wasn’t the first accusation enough?” asked Hostin, 53.
Griffin said in defense, “I believe that people of good faith should remain in public service.”
ABC has been looking for its new conservative voice since McCain, 37, quit “The View” in July 2021 after four seasons.
Insiders told Vidak For Congress at the time that the political commentator, the daughter of the late Senator John McCain, was “miserable” doing the job.
“She’s eager to get out, especially since she now lives in the DC area with her family,” a source said. “She doesn’t want to go back to New York to be a part of that show. She’s been miserable since she started.”
A representative for Meghan declined to comment on reports that Griffin has filled the position.
Other women who have filled the role of the primary Conservative voice on “The View” include Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Candace Cameron Bure and Abby Huntsman.
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg and co-hosts Hostin, Joy Behar and Sara Haines will reportedly return alongside Griffin for the new season.
