Meghan Markle hated to share her family’s photos with the British media whose readers called her “children the N-word.”
While she was an active member of the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex was expected to provide photos of her now 3-year-old son, Archie, to the Royal Rota, the press pool related to Queen Elizabeth II and her line of succession.
“There is literally a structure,” the actress, 41, explained in her New York Magazine’s The Cut cover story, which was published Monday.
“Why would I give the people who call my children the N-word a picture of my child before I can share it with the people who love my child?” the alum asked, “Suits.”
“You tell me how that makes sense and then I play that game.”
Markle noted that she and Harry, 37, had no control over the @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account they initially shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
When the couple broke up to create their own social media handle, @sussexroyal, they chose not to play the ‘trading game’.
Instead, Markle and the former military pilot posted photos without giving them to the Royal Rota first.
The couple shut down their account when they pulled out of their royal role, which they officially called off in February 2021, but Markle teased her impending Instagram return in the interview.
The “Deal or No Deal” alum, who is also the mother of 1-year-old daughter Lilibet, has previously addressed racist media coverage that drove her and her husband from the royal family — and from social media.
The bullying was “almost unsurvivable,” Markle told Oprah Winfrey in her bombshell CBS interview last year, which revealed she was having suicidal thoughts.
“I was really ashamed to say it at the time and especially ashamed to admit it to Harry, but I knew that if I didn’t say it, I would,” explained the podcast host of “Archetypes out in March. 2021. “I just didn’t want to live anymore.”
Markle also told Winfrey that before his arrival there were “concerns and conversations” within the family about her son’s skin color.
“At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked,” Harry chimed in, noting that he would “never share” talking to them about Archie’s skin tone.
“That was in the beginning,” the prince continued.
In November 2021, a well-placed source in “Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan” told author Christopher Andersen that it was Prince Charles who mused to his wife, Duchess Camilla, about “what the children will resemble.”
A spokesman for the Prince of Wales told The Post at the time that the report was “fiction and not worth further comment”.
