Jaclyn Hill announced on Thursday that her ex-husband Jon Hill has died.
The YouTube star, who became famous for her makeup tutorials on the social media platform, shared the news after his family “asked her.
“I was asked by Jon’s family to post this next slide…” she wrote via Instagram Stories on Thursday. “It is with deep regret and sadness that we report that our beloved Andrew Jonathan Hill passed away on August 10, 2022.
The statement continued: “We are all devastated by the sudden tragedy. The Hill family asks for privacy during this openly difficult time. VR, Hill family.”
It is not yet known how the drummer died.
The founder of Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics, 32, and Jon tied the knot in 2009.
However, in 2018, they announced that they were going their separate ways with Jaclyn, who said they wouldn’t match as husband and wife, but would “always make good friends.”
Jon had previously opened up about his struggle with drug addiction and confessed to Billboard in 2019 that this was the reason he and Jaclyn broke up.
“During our third year of marriage, it got to a point where I started having seizures because I was using so many things,” he told the outlet at the time. “I started breaking out in hives. So it became clear that something was not right.”
Jon revealed that he eventually got sober, but Jaclyn “decided she didn’t want to be with him anymore”.
“That was a huge shock to me,” he told Billboard. “We were married for nine years. For some reason I was thinking how great it would be to enjoy Christmas with her while I was clean. She often said, “You don’t love me because you never want to do anything to me.” But it was because I kept hiding [my addiction] always hers.”
“So when I came home to see all my stuff gone and not know who she is with, I was devastated,” he continued. “Within two months I was back on drugs.”
At the time of the interview, Jon said he was clean.
Last month, in an Instagram Q&A, Jaclyn revealed that Jon “has not been doing well for a long time. He hasn’t had a phone in months and no one has contacted him.”
She is currently engaged to Jordan Torrey, who goes by the name Jordan Farnum.
