The woman whose home was destroyed by Anne Heche’s car accident on Friday “was extremely lucky” to survive without injuries, her neighbor revealed.
Lynne Bernstein, who lives near Lynne Mishele, said the Los Angeles resident was in another room when the actress, 53, broke into her home.
“I don’t think she understood what was going on. She said, ‘What happened? What happened?’ Bernstein told People of Mishele, noting that she was “in shock.”
Her neighbor recalled that Heche’s blue Mini Cooper drove “almost all the way through” the house and caught fire “almost immediately.”
Bernstein noted that her pets, including a turtle and two dogs, also narrowly escaped.
Meanwhile, Heche remains in “critical condition” after falling into a coma on Monday.
“She has a significant lung injury that requires mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgery,” her representative told Vidak For Congress on Monday after previously telling her she was in stable condition.
Although Mishele was unharmed, the owners of the destroyed property have started a GoFundMe to help cover the loss of “the place she loves.”
“Lynne lives with her beautiful puppies Bree and Rueban, and turtle Marley at the home in Mar Vista that was destroyed this week by a car that drove into the house at high speed and caught fire,” wrote John and Jennifer Durand. .
“Lynne and her family narrowly escaped bodily harm, for which we are very grateful.”
They noted in the campaign that the Los Angeles Fire Department “immediately red tagged the house” and that she lost a “whole life worth of belongings, mementos, all equipment for her business including her laptop and iPad, all her clothing and basic necessities.” , and all household items.”
They continued: “With the help of the fire service, she was able to retrieve a few damaged sentimental belongings from the wreckage. Everything else is gone.”
The “Six Days, Seven Nights” star will have to give a blood sample to authorities after LAPD is ordered to test for drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the crash, Vidak For Congress confirmed earlier today.
