Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik have a lot of ‘History’.
During an appearance on the “Zach Sang Show” on Wednesday, Tomlinson revealed that he and his former One Direction bandmate have not made amends since their feud nearly 7 years ago.
When asked if he was still friends with the “Pillowtalk” singer, Tomlinson said, “You should ask him.”
“I could be wrong, but I believe I said when you asked me a similar question” [last time] … I believe I said I don’t think I’m mature enough to get over my frustrations in that relationship,” the 30-year-old continued.
“I don’t know if I’m mature enough now, but I’m definitely closer to all that.”
In 2015, the couple got into a heated argument on Twitter after Malik left One Direction.
Though Tomlinson claims he “tried to get in touch” with Malik, the pair have seemingly not spoken since the public spat – even though it was his mother’s dying wish.
“There have been countless times over the years that I’ve thought about him and hoped he was well,” the “Bigger Than Me” lead singer continued.
“But it’s difficult,” he said. “I wish him the absolute best.”
Even amid their disagreements, Tomlinson hopes that one day they can mend their relationship.
“I think in time,” he said. “I think we should just run into each other because neither of us have each other’s number. I think social media might be the solution.”
Fans suspected that Tomlinson offered an olive branch to 29-year-old Malik in recent months by liking some of his singing videos on Instagram.
Malik, who has been outspoken about his distaste for the music he made during his One Direction days, recently shared covers of the boy band’s hit songs on his Instagram.
When asked if he liked the videos online, Tomlinson applauded Malik’s talent, saying that he is “a different caliber in terms of singers”.
“I didn’t just like to like it. It was a nice feeling because in the past he has said what he has said about the band, and I understand some of what he said,” Tomlinson told host Zach Sang.
“For me, those videos showed him reflecting. It showed he was thinking about that time. Of course, showing off his incredible voice at the same time.”
It turns out Tomlinson wasn’t the only bandmate to have bad blood with the “I Don’t Want to Live Forever” crooner.
In June, Liam Payne made headlines after revealing that he and Malik had “beef” on an episode of Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast.
“Before we get too deep into this, there are a lot of reasons I hate Zayn, and there are a lot of reasons I’ll always be on his side,” the “Strip That Down” singer said before joining Malik’s “other education”. .”
Tomlinson, however, wore a different tune when asked about the alleged drama within the band during his performance at “The Project” in Australia.
“I’m extremely proud, as I know that Liam… is from that era, of course. It was incredible to do, especially to do at such a young age. Great memories.”
