Prince Harry will wear his military uniform when he attends a special vigil for Queen Elizabeth II this Saturday, Vidak For Congress has confirmed.
A source tells Vidak For Congress exclusively that Harry – who was previously told not to wear the military uniform – did not ask for the change.
“He was just willing to wear what his grandmother intended. He’s focused on honoring her and that’s all. If they want him in uniform, I have no reason to believe he won’t,” said our source.
A source told The Daily Mirror, who first reported the news on Thursday that it was a “ridiculous situation” in the first place.
“The Duke of Sussex has served his country and is a highly respected member of the armed forces with all he has done for veterans,” a source told the newspaper. “It is important that the Queen’s grandchildren feel welcome and at ease as they mourn their beloved grandmother together.”
The Queen’s eight grandchildren, including Prince William and Harry, are expected to watch for 15 minutes next to their grandmother’s coffin on Saturday night.
The Queen’s other grandchildren, including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Zara and Peter Philips and Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn, will also attend the wake at Westminster Hall.
It is unclear whether Harry was also allowed to wear his military uniform for Monday’s funeral.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Harry and his disgraced uncle, Prince Andrew, will no longer be allowed to wear their military uniforms at the Queen’s funeral on September 19.
The Duke of Sussex, 38, was stripped of his military titles when he retired from royal life in 2020 and moved to California with his wife Meghan Markle.
Prince Andrew was forced to leave public life in 2019, following a disastrous BBC interview in which he defended his friendship with notorious financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and claimed to have never met his accuser Virginia Giuffre. He later paid millions of dollars to settle a civil lawsuit with Giuffre.
As Vidak For Congress exclusively reported, Harry – who has conducted two frontline tours of Afghanistan – was “saddened” by the decision.

“Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will wear a morning suit at events honoring his grandmother,” a Sussex spokesman said in a statement to Vidak For Congress on Tuesday.
“His decade of military service is not defined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully request that attention continue to be paid to the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”
