The best day of Tom Mann’s life ended in a day of ‘irreversible heartbreak’.
Mann, 28, best known for his appearance on the X Factor in 2014, shared tragic news on Instagram on Monday, saying his beloved wife-to-be never made it down the aisle on Saturday.
His fiancée Danielle Hampson, 34, died on their wedding day.
Mann posted a photo of Hampson and their eight-month-old son Bowie, saying he “couldn’t believe I’m writing these words.”
“My darling Dani – my best friend, my everything and more, the love of my life – passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning, June 18,” he wrote. “What should have been the happiest day of our lives ended in an irreversible heartbreak. I feel like I’ve cried an ocean.
“We never made it to the altar; either we had to make our vows or dance our first dance, but I know you know you were my whole world and the best thing that ever happened to me, Danielle.’
Mann, who appeared on the singing show as part of boy band Stereo Kicks, said their son would give him the “strength” to cope.
“I honestly don’t know where to go, but I do know to use all the strength I can muster for our little boy,” he wrote. “I won’t leave a mark on the parent you’ve already become, but I promise I’ll do everything I can to raise Bowie the way we’ve always wanted to.”
The singer/songwriter further noted how he is “completely heartbroken trying to come to terms with” the tragedy.
“My dear Dani, the brightest light in every room, my world is nothing but darkness without you. I will miss you forever,” he concluded.
Hampson’s cause of death is unknown at this time.
Mann’s former Stereo Kicks bandmates rushed to the comments section to offer their condolences.
“I am sending all my beloved brother so sorry,” wrote singer Barclay Beales, with Charlie Jones adding: “Devastated reading this Tom. I see all my love for you and Bowie.”
Mann and Hampson had to postpone their wedding twice in August 2020 due to the pandemic.
In October 2021, they announced the arrival of their son Bowie.
Mann stormed into the music scene as a contestant on the 11th season of X Factor in 2014. He initially auditioned solo before being placed in Stereo Kicks by the judges.
The band came in fifth place and later released their first single, but the following year the band members went their separate ways.
