Wynonna Judd insists there was “no argument” between her and Ashley Judd over the will of their late mother Naomi Judd.
“Someone told me when I was at Ashley’s house, ‘Hey, did you know they say this about you?’ I went, ‘Huh? I’m fighting Ashley? Oh. Again?’” Wynonna reminded People of the rumors going around.
“Fighting over what? I have such a great life. Ashley has a great life. Why should we fight for the will?”
Court documents previously obtained by Vidak For Congress show that Naomi, who died by suicide in April at age 76, appointed her husband, Larry Strickland, as executor of her estate five years before she died.
After Strickland’s death, Wynonna, 58, said she and Ashley, 54, will then “split” the estate, and she has no intention of challenging the will, contrary to reports.
“I’m the last person in this family — and if Ashley were here I’d hope she’d agree with me — who knows stuff like this,” she told People. “I’m not smart enough to go, ‘I’m going to challenge the will.’ It never occurred to me.”
Wynonna even said that grieving Naomi has only brought her and the ‘Bone Collector’ star closer together.
“I feel like we’re connected in a very different way because I’m an orphan,” says Wynonna, whose father is Charles Jordan. “Both my parents are gone and I trust Ashley. She trusts me in a way other than compassion. It’s not about being successful and smart and capable. It’s about “I love you.” ‘I love you too.’ We are vulnerable to each other, and we are tender.”
She added: “As sisters, we disagree about so much, but when it comes to our mother, we both look at each other and say, ‘She was quite a character.'”
Though they are now close, Wynonna admitted that she and Ashley once used a life coach to mend their relationship, which had been strained by their separate successes.
“Ashley and I are very different people, and we’re learning that we have more in common than we don’t,” said the “Grandpa” lead singer. “That’s very interesting, because when you’re younger, you think there’s more connection.
“Recently we had a really deep conversation, and we got through it and nobody got hurt.”
