Fans of Johnny Depp wanted nothing more than for the actor to date his attorney, Camille Vasquez, during his televised defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard. Despite their on-camera chemistry, Vasquez denied that there was anything romantic between her and her client.
But in a total turn of events, Vidak For Congress reported Thursday that Depp is dating one of his attorneys: Joelle Rich. The London-based lawyer represented the actor in his British libel suit against The Sun two years ago.
Here’s everything you need to know about Depp’s lawyer-turned-girlfriend.
partner-in-law
Rich has had a very successful career in law and is a partner at her London-based law firm, Schillings.
“She has a wealth of expertise in libel, privacy and copyright litigation, having recently been part of the team that won a major privacy and copyright case in the public eye, as well as leading a recent high-profile indictment of libel,” according to her company profile. “Joelle is a highly experienced litigator and her goal is to use the law to ensure her clients are protected from arbitrary interference with their personal or business lives.”
london lady
Rich attended high school at the respected and historic North London Collegiate School.
Founded in 1850, the school is “a top independent day school for girls ages 4-18,” according to LinkedIn.
To a certain extent
Rich also received her higher education in the UK. She studied law at the University of Birmingham from 2003 to 2006.
After university, she continued her studies at BPP Law School, where, according to her Linkedin, she specialized in Media and Entertainment, Intellectual Property and Commercial and Private Acquisitions.
Privacy matters
While taking high-profile cases, Rich is clearly someone who enjoys her privacy.
Rich’s Instagram account is set to private and she only has a little over 200 followers. However, she seems relatively active on social media as she has shared 1,256 posts on her private page.
Married with children
Rich is currently married but has since split up after meeting Depp during his trial.
An insider told US Weekly that she was married when she and the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star first met, but is now divorcing her husband.
She and her estranged husband reportedly have two children.
