According to multiple reports, the host will leave “The Daily Show” after taking over Jon Stewart seven years ago.
A source told Decider, who was the first to break the news, that Noah revealed the news to the public during the taping of Thursday’s episode. The announcement will likely air later tonight at 11 p.m. ET.
Paramount later confirmed the news to Variety with a statement that read, “We are grateful to Trevor for our amazing partnership over the past seven years.
“Without a timetable for his departure, we are working together on the next steps. The South African comedian, 38, took over “The Daily Show” under many scrutiny.
He told Variety in 2020: “I’ll say the first two years were terrible — and it was terrible because I took over one of America’s most beloved institutions.
“And even though Jon Stewart had handed over the reins to me, it was essentially a year where people told me not to do the job and I wasn’t worth sitting in that chair. And I kept believing that.”
Many viewers also had a problem with Noah being singled out after old tweets of his resurfaced that could be considered anti-Semitic. Some of his old routines also came to light when he made seemingly derogatory jokes about Aboriginal women.
Noah’s professional life isn’t the only thing changing as he is rumored to be dating singer Dua Lipa, 27.
The two were spotted at a romantic dinner in New York City on Wednesday night.
