Tom Brady speaks with his wife Gisele Bündchen about the importance of the family amid marital problems.
“Football and family have always been the most important to me, so it’s a good time of year,” Brady, 45, said Monday in his SiriusXM podcast “Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray,” after he had won his first game of the season.
When Gray asked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback if he only finds “peace and quiet” on the field, Brady teased that he “hoped[s] that’s not the only place I find it,” arguing it would be “a brutal way” to go.
“But there’s a simplicity to life when you’re in football season because there’s a rhythm to it,” Brady added.
Brady, who shares son Benjamin (12) and daughter Vivian (9) with Bündchen, said he also needs time off with his kids to relax. The athlete is also the father of son Jack, 15, who he shares with ex Bridget Moynahan.
“I find peace in other ways of living and just love the time with my children – [they] getting a little older,” he continued.
Brady started his 23rd season after winning Sunday after his short-lived retirement against the Dallas Cowboys, but 42-year-old Bündchen was not present at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
A source told Vidak For Congress she “never” goes to his first game of the season, noting that the supermodel was most likely in the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week.
However, Bündchen showed her support for her athletic husband from afar. She tweeted, “Let’s go @TomBrady! Let’s go Buks! ✨✨✨”, ahead of the big game.
Vidak For Congress broke the news that Bundchen and Brady are in the midst of an “epic battle” over his decision to return to football, despite announcing his retirement in February.
“There have been problems in the marriage because of his decision not to retire. Gisele has always been the one with the kids,” a source told us at the time. “They had agreed that he would retire to focus on the family, but then he changed his mind.”
Another source claimed they “have a fiery relationship,” which only adds fuel to the drama.
Brady also raised eyebrows when he blamed his “personal” life for “a lot of things going on” after missing 11 days of training in August.
The duo tied the knot in February 2009. Brady was previously in a relationship with Moynahan, 51, for nearly three years until they split in 2006, but they continued to co-parent.
