Tia Mowry was focused on the importance of setting “boundaries” in the days before announcing that she and Cory Hardrict are divorcing.
As she walked the red carpet for Variety’s Power of Women event on September 28, the “Sister, Sister” alum opened up about how making changes has left her “glowing.”
“You know what it is, it’s self-love. I really, really focus on setting boundaries,” she told “Access Hollywood.” “I’m in my 40s, and I’m just learning [how hard it can be]. All the ladies out there, no matter how old you are, start now! It has really given me peace and joy.”
Mowry, 44, announced on social media Tuesday that she and the “All American: Homecoming” actor, 42, decided to go their separate ways after 14 years of marriage and two children: 11-year-old son Cree and 4-year-old old daughter Cairo.
“These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children,” she wrote alongside an old black and white photo of the couple.
“I am grateful for all the happy times we have had together and would like to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we begin this new chapter in our lives.”
Mowry filed for divorce from Hardrict hours before her Instagram post, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of the split, according to court documents obtained by Vidak For Congress.
She requested joint physical and legal custody of their children and noted that they had a prenup.
Mowry and Hardrict met as students at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles before they tied the knot in April 2008.
