Glamorous dresses are all well and good if you’re going to the Oscars or Grammys – but the VMAs are all about showing skin and ignoring fashion rules. After all, this is the awards show that brought us Rose McGowan’s “naked” dress, Lady Gaga’s meat dress, and Lil Kim’s purple sequin patty.
And on the red carpet of the VMAs 2022, stars didn’t hold back in the style department: Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance in a chandelier minidress, Lil Nas X went full showgirl in feathers, and Lizzo had all of Twitter talking in her voluminous cloud-like couture. .

The director of “All Too Well: The Short Film” was the belle of the (mirror) ball during Sunday’s show and shone especially for us in a crystal-covered Oscar de la Renta creation. Sparkling Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry elevated the sparkle factor even further.
Lil Nas X
The “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” rapper looked ready to fly in his fabulous feathered Harris Reed headdress and matching crinoline — an all-black take on Iman’s memorable gold-plated outfit from the 2021 Met Gala.
Conan Gray
Lil Nas X wasn’t the only one to turn heads in Harris Reed on Sunday — “Heather” crooner Conan Gray looked totally ethereal in a sheer white blazer with a sweeping, lace-trimmed train from the genderfluid designer.
