Sydney Sweeney has never been happier.
The ‘Euphoria’ star burst into tears on Tuesday after learning she’d received two Emmy nominations for supporting actress.
The 24-year-old was nominated for her roles in the hit HBO series “Euphoria” and for the limited series “The White Lotus.”
Sweeney shared the emotional moment when she told her mother the big news on Instagram. The actress was seen curled up in the passenger seat of a car cheerfully yelling “Mom” into the phone before bursting into tears.
“What a morning! thank you so much to @televisionacad for my emmy nominations! It’s an honor to know that both Olivia and Cassie have interacted with so many,” Sweeney captioned the video, alongside the main photos of both characters.
She continued: “I am so proud of both shows and I am grateful to everyone who attended. But the most important thing is mom, I love you, we’ve been through it ups and downs! ️🥰 thank you, thank you !!
Sweeney told People she wasn’t expecting the nominations and that she was recognized “in disbelief” and “beyond grateful”.
“I wasn’t really expecting this,” she said. “When I fell in love with acting, and when I fell in love with my characters, I don’t really think about the whole price aspect of it. I think there are so many incredible actors that I aspire to, so I wasn’t ready yet.”
But Sweeney wasn’t the only one of her respective shows to be recognized by the Emmys. Zendaya, actor and producer of “Euphoria”, broke numerous Emmy records with four nominations, including the youngest producer nominated.
Sweeney will also battle it out with her “The White Lotus” co-stars, as five of the seven actresses nominated for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie are from the project.
The actress took the world by storm in recent years and quickly made a name for herself in Hollywood. In April, she received the Breakthrough Award at the ATX TV Festival for ‘dominant conversations’ and ‘making noise and being noticed’ – which the Emmys clearly have!
