SpaceX internal open letter seeks condemnation of Elon Musk’s tweets – Vidak For Congress

SpaceX employees have sent an open letter to the company’s internal communications system asking the company’s leadership to implement a number of measures, with the stated goal of ensuring that SpaceX’s actual “systems and culture” comply. to “the stated values”, The edgeLoren Grush reports. The letter specifically points to Elon Musk’s behavior on Twitter and how he has used the platform to respond to sexual harassment allegations levied against him in May by a prosecutor.

The letter, which claims to be the authorship”[e]employees across the spectrum of gender, ethnicity, seniority and technical roles,” calls on SpaceX leadership to “[P]to publicly address and condemn Elon’s harmful Twitter behavior” to “expressly differentiate itself from Elon’s personal brand.”

It also calls for leadership across the board to be held equally accountable for treating employee culture with “the same rigorous and urgency” as the company does when correcting hardware errors that lead to irregularities in SpaceX’s spaceflight operations. Finally, it seems like a better definition and enforcement of SpaceX’s so-called “no-asshole” and “zero tolerance” policies that apply to employee behavior standards.

Over the past week, Musk has been hot on Twitter for publicly supporting newly elected Congresswoman Mayra Flores, a Texas Republican with a history of promoting QAnon, while insisting his political leanings are “moderate.”

We’ve reached out to SpaceX for comment, but haven’t heard back from the release. You can read the full text of the open letter, which asks for additional employee signatures internally before being formally presented to SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell, at The edge.
