Even royals can appreciate a discount.
Queen Letizia of Spain loves a royal re-wear, and it looks like she went to her teenage daughter’s closet this week for some fashion inspiration.
The 49-year-old looked fresh for summer when she stepped out on Wednesday in a red and white patterned shirt dress.
The same style was recently spotted on her eldest child, 16-year-old Princess Leonor, who wore it last month to attend the Maria Pages performance at the Teatros de El Canal with her whole family.
The ikat print midi dress from Spanish brand Dándara is currently on sale for just $40, making it a royal bargain.
The Spanish queen wore the dress with her favorite pair of brown ankle straps from the now-closed Uterqüe brand for an outing at the UNICEF Spanish Committee headquarters.
Queen Letizia is known for scoring big – and making a statement with her outfits. In May, she turned heads at a Red Cross and Red Crescent event, wearing a $65 fuchsia dress with tummy cuts from Spanish label Cayro Woman.
She’s also not afraid to double-dip, after first wearing the same Carolina Herrera purse ($1,500) that Meghan Markle wore to the Invictus Games in April.
And it seems that mother-daughter style swaps are popular in royal circles; last month, Kate Middleton lent her own mother, Carole, a pink Me + Em dress for the Royal Ascot.
The Duchess of Cambridge debuted the look last spring to visit a cancer patient who asked her to wear a pink dress. Carole added a sash and an oversized black wizard for her day out.
Carole and Kate are known to often share clothes as they have previously worn the same hat and dress on different occasions.
Perhaps one day Queen Letizia will return the favor to daughter Leonor. And should the young royal be allowed to choose her mother’s best outfits, she’d do well to ask for Letizia’s 2004 wedding dress – costing a whopping $6 million, the dress is made with real gold thread by Manuel Pertegaz and remains the most expensive royal. wedding dress of all time.
She wore a diamond tiara donated by her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia, who wore the piece on her own wedding day in 1962.
Style really does run in the family.
