Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been officially demoted.
Over the weekend, the photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pushed to the very bottom of the list on the royal family’s website.
While still working members of the family, the couple’s special pages were directly below those of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who have since been promoted to Prince and Princess of Wales respectively.
After they resigned their positions in January 2020, they were forced to sit right under Princess Anne. But now, after King Charles III took the throne, they are sitting on top of the disgraced Prince Andrew.
Since their infamous ‘Megxit’, the couple have rarely returned to the UK from their new home in California – that was until Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8.
Their relegation is just the latest snafu the pair have faced in recent weeks.
After returning to the UK after the death of his grandmother, the Duke of Sussex was not allowed to wear his military uniform during upcoming ceremonies – unlike the rest of his family.
After much research, Charles, 73, allowed him to do this before the actual funeral — with one condition: he couldn’t have his late grandmother’s initials on his military uniform. Harry, 38, was reportedly so “heartbroken” that he almost chose not to wear the uniform at all.
In addition, Markle and Harry were seemingly belittled at the late monarch’s funeral when they were forced to sit in the second row rather than at the front with the rest of the royal family.
The couple spent 11 days in England after the Queen’s death, but their relationship with their estranged royal family didn’t seem to improve.
“I find it very sad [that] in the days when Harry was here, there was a chance given that they were only a few hundred yards from each other for a meeting or dinner or some sort of gathering where they could really just try and figure things out,” The New Royals” author Katie Nicholl told Vidak For Congress about Harry’s ongoing feud with William, 40.
Although the “Fab Four” — as William, Middleton, Markle and Harry are known — greeted the mourning crowd outside Windsor Castle together, Nicholl says there was no reconciliation.
“William can be very stubborn and hold a grudge. Harry is emotional and hot-headed and they are both very passionate and there is a lack of understanding on both sides and resentment on both sides and anger on both sides that couldn’t be appeased and processed,” she noted.
In March 2021, the brothers’ relationship took a turn for the worse when Harry and the 41-year-old ‘Suits’ went to talk to Oprah Winfrey about their decision to leave the royal family.
In the shocking interview, the couple talked about the racism they felt from the media and their family – which William has vehemently denied.
Harry also shook some feathers when he criticized his upbringing, claiming that his father and brother were still “trapped” in their royal roles.
Although Harry making amends with the family was one of the late Queen’s ‘dearest wishes’, there still seems to be some animosity in the air.
