Paulina Porizkova does not just accept age criticism.
On Friday, the 57-year-old supermodel took to Instagram to hit back at a plastic surgeon who reportedly pointed out everything “wrong” with her face in a post that has “now been deleted”.
Porizkova shared a close-up photo of herself, writing that she discovered the same photo had been reposted by the doc, who went on to say “[discuss] in detail what? [she] had to be done.”
“Those pesky hollows under my cheeks could be smoothed out with fillers, Botox for my forehead, those wrinkles on the side of my mouth and the chords on my neck, and a whole host of lasers to tighten and smooth everything,” she recalled. the post that pointed to it.
“This is what an older woman in the public eye has to deal with. I was told that my face needs to be repaired. It has somehow gone ‘wrong’ with aging,” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit beauty continued. “Is it any wonder that most of us who have the means resort to some forms of repairing what we’re told is broken?”
Porizkova, who posed “completely naked” (and unretouched) for the cover of Vogue Czechoslovakia in 2021, continued with the non-surgical procedures she had undergone “for the record” — including laser treatments and plasma pen, where she talked about exclusively with Vidak For Congress Style at the time.
“I would like to find a balance between being proud of my age and feeling beautiful sometimes. In my work I am confronted with my own face in almost unnatural detail – and although I have come to accept most of it, I still struggle to accept it all,” she continued in her latest post.
“But telling a woman what she’s ‘need’ to do herself to be seen as attractive, whether it’s hair color, makeup, skin creams or clothing – or the more drastic options – shames her. Any time you catch yourself thinking or saying “you know, you should…” to a friend, stop for a moment. If she doesn’t ask for help, are you really helping?”
Porizkova concluded her long caption by asking her followers to “search for and point out what you like in your friends,” as “the best way to support each other is to celebrate what’s already there.”
She also added a few of her signature hashtags, including #betweenjloandbettywhite, #acceptance, #graypride and #yourebeautifuljustthewayyouare.
Famous friends weighed in on the comments, with Lisa Rinna exclaiming, “Hi Beauty!!!” and Nigel Barker wrote in part, “You can’t fix perfection.”
“May we all be so lucky to have your natural beauty inside and out. And besides – kindness and humanity is a beauty that can’t be bought and doesn’t age,” added famed makeup artist Sandy Linter.
Porizkova’s candid content, which often focuses on societal beauty standards, has helped her amasse more than 800,000 Instagram followers (and counting); “The more I posted the reality and the real me, the more people reacted to it,” she told us in 2021.
“I think we’ve made huge strides in accepting all different kinds of beauty… But age, ageism, that’s kind of like the last frontier.”
