Uma Thurman, Paul Walker and the Jonas Brothers are just some of the famous names that will grace the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023.
The Chamber’s Walk of Fame selection panel chair Ellen K announced the selections on Friday.
A total of 24 entertainers will be honored in the following categories: Motion Pictures, Television, Live Theatre/Live Performance and Recording.
Thurman was selected in the Motion Pictures category along with funny Vince Vaughn, rapper and “Fast & Furious” star Ludacris, “The Sinner” star Bill Pullman and director John Waters, known for his work on “Hairspray”, “Pink Flamingos,” and “Cry baby.”
Oscar-nominated actress Juanita Moore and beloved star of the ‘The Fast and The Furious’ franchise, Paul Walker, will be honored posthumously in the category.
Moore died in 2014 at age 99, while Walker died in 2013 at age 40 after fatal injuries in a car accident.
Pop band The Jonas Brothers get their star in the Recording category, along with rocker Lenny Kravitz, Marc Anthony, Sheila E, Irving Azoff, Blake Shelton and Charlie Wilson.
Jenni Rivera is honored posthumously in the Recording category. She died in 2012 in a plane crash that killed six others.
The Television category honors actor and director Jon Favreau, ‘The Office’ and ‘The Mindy Project’ star Mindy Kaling, ‘Bad Boys’ star Martin Lawrence, ‘The Karate Kid’ star Ralph Macchio, original ‘Saturday Night Live’ star Garrett Morris and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Ellen Pompeo.
The Live Theatre/Live Performance category will honor world-renowned pianist Lang Lang, singer Melba Moore and a cappella group Pentatonix.
“The panel has carefully selected these talented individuals and we can’t wait to celebrate them as they become part of Hollywood history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway,” Ellen K said at Friday’s press conference. .
Ceremony dates for the new selections have not yet been announced.
After learning she’d made the cut, Kaling rushed to social media to gush about the acknowledgment.
“I am stunned! I’m getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This is crazy,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I am so honoured. I grew up watching people I admire so much, receiving stars and I never thought I would join them. It inspires me to work harder and dream bigger! Thanks @warnerbrostv @hwdwalkoffame!”
Unable to contain their own excitement, a cappella group Pentatonix rushed to Twitter to thank the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
