Lisa Marie Presley marked two years since she lost her beloved son Benjamin Keough by remembering their special bond.
The 54-year-old daughter of legendary crooner Elvis Presley took to social media on Tuesday to share a poignant tribute to her late son, whom she lost to suicide in 2020.
“Several years ago, on Mother’s Day, my son and I got these matching tattoos on our feet,” she captioned her Instagram post with a photo of the matching body art.
“It’s a Celtic eternity knot,” she explained. “Symbol that we will be connected forever.”
“We have carefully chosen it to represent our eternal love and our eternal bond,” she added.
Benjamin died on July 12, 2020 at the age of 27 at his home in Calabasas, California from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that his death was a suicide.
Three months after his death, he was laid to rest in Graceland alongside his grandfather and several other relatives.
His sister, Riley Keough, also marked two years since his tragic death in a heartbreaking Instagram post.
“Not an hour goes by when I don’t think about you and miss you,” she wrote alongside a photo of them laughing together. “It’s been two years today since you left and I still can’t believe you’re not here. You are so loved, my Ben Ben.”
In May, Lisa Marie opened up about her son’s death, saying it “destroyed and shattered my heart.”
“I haven’t posted in a while because there really isn’t much to say as I am and will forever mourn the loss of my son,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Navigating through this horrific grief that absolutely destroyed and shattered my heart and soul to next to nothing has completely swallowed me up. Not much different than my other 3 kids gets my time and attention anymore,” she added.
