Kim Kardashian says she’s doing her part to fight climate change, despite using her relatively new private jet to fly everywhere.
“I believe in climate change, and I believe anything can help,” she told Interview magazine in her head-turning cover story published Tuesday. “But I also believe in being realistic and I think sometimes there’s so much to worry about on this planet, and it can be really scary to live your life with fear.”
The 41-year-old ‘Kardashians’ star said she likes to ‘learn’ from her ‘super climate change concerned friends’, but when it comes to her life, she has to judge the practicality of going green at an extreme level.
“I do what I can, but you have to choose what really works for you in your life,” she said. “No one will be 100 percent perfect.”
Kardashian’s comments come as she, Kylie Jenner, Taylor Swift and more stars have been criticized for their constant use of private jets over the use of commercial airlines’ more plebeian method.
In July, the founder of Kylie Cosmetics was called a “climate criminal” for using her jet on a 17-minute flight when she could have easily driven.
“Why should I limit my meat consumption and use paper straws when the 1% is allowed to pump tons of carbon into the atmosphere for a day trip to Palm Springs?” wrote a follower.
Meanwhile, a Swift representative defended the “All Too Well” singer’s private jet use by claiming she’s not always the person on board her plane.
“Taylor’s jet is regularly lent to other individuals,” her spokesperson told BuzzFeed News. “Attribution of most or all of these trips to her is patently incorrect.”
The answer didn’t go down well with eco-warriors, because the jet still made regular flights no matter who took them.
“I love how you spread the blame for your private jet. Allowing other people to use it increases the carbon footprint,” wrote one social media user. “It’s not enough that you’re a hypocrite, but you encourage others to be the same. How’s that? Okay?”
