British couple James and Nikki Roadnight faced the surprise of their lives when Keanu Reeves showed up on Monday to celebrate their wedding in Northamptonshire, England.
The groom saw the ‘Matrix’ actor, 57, hanging out in the bar at the Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa and invited him to the reception.
“He was very friendly and said he would” [come] later,” Nikki told Newsweek on Thursday. “We didn’t know if he would or not, but it was cool that my husband talked to him!”
While newlyweds were enjoying the party, a hotel employee told them a “very special guest” was waiting for them.
“It was all very exciting”, the bride exulted. “I went to say hello and introduce myself, and I offered him a drink, but he declined, saying he had just had a long flight so wouldn’t be staying long, but he was so nice and kind and congratulated us on our wedding. ”
She noted that Reeves not only spoke to “starstruck” wedding attendees, but also posed for photos with the newlyweds.
“My mom, Jo, took pictures and yelled for everyone to yell ‘Speed’ as she took the picture,” Nikki continued. “We had to laugh about that, because it’s one of his older movies! We are big fans.”
She added that while the wedding was already “perfect” and “magical”, Reeves made the special day “out of this world” by giving them “something to remember”. [at] the beginning of many more adventures.”
The ‘John Wick’ star, who is in a relationship with recording artist Alexandra Grant, has been dubbed the nicest man in Hollywood for the way he treats fans and others in the industry.
For example, in July 2019, Reeves made headlines for getting out of his car and writing a note on a fan’s board.
A Change.org petition was launched two months before Time magazine was created to crown him Person of the Year, garnering nearly 200,000 signatures.
“Keanu is the healthiest person out there, make him the person of the year!” read the July 2019 petition. “Keanu has secretly donated millions of his earnings to children’s hospitals and other charities, and has done great things for people in public without asking for anything in return.”
Signers called the actor “an angel”, gushing that he “deserves”[d]the outlet’s honor — which ultimately went to environmentalist Greta Thunberg.
