“Away Again” in the Hamptons.
Jimmy Buffett made a surprise appearance at Kygo’s headlining DJ set at Palm Tree Music Festival on Saturday.
“I’ve got a special guest with me for this next one,” the 30-year-old hitmaker “It Ain’t Me” told the audience as Buffett, 75, took the stage to perform “Margaritaville.”
“How are you tonight Long Island?” he asked the crowd at Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach.
Controversial Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy watched the show from the side stage, while Sports Illustrated model Camille Kostek danced nearby with “We Wore What” designer Danielle Bernstein, Melissa Wood Tepperberg and Olivia Culpo’s sister, Sophia Culpo.
Kygo also brought vocalist Zak Abel onstage, before treating the crowd of approximately 5,000 to a rare, stripped-down rendition of “Firestone” on the piano.
Earlier in the evening, Portnoy, who joked that his appearance resembled a character from “The Hangover,” revealed that he met Buffett backstage.
“I just had a little chat with him. My favorite man on earth,” he said in an Instagram video.
“A lot of people hate me, a lot of people love me. But here’s the thing: we all love Jimmy, and we should all get along. Life is too short to hate.”
The lineup at the second annual Palm Tree Music Festival also included the hitmakers Disclosure, Claptone, Thomas Jack and Haywood of “Latch”.
While Buffett wasn’t on the bill, he’s no stranger to making guest appearances in the Hamptons.
On Labor Day in 2019, he took the stage at a party with Willie Nelson’s son, Lukas, and even hosted guests at the swanky Surf Lodge in 2018 when he jumped on stage at a Wyclef Jean performance.
