Scott Patterson recalls being upset about filming a “Gilmore Girls” scene in 2003, which made him feel “some kind of meat stick.”
The “annoying” moment with Lauren Graham, who played Lorelai Gilmore, and Melissa McCarthy, who played Sookie St. James, was all about “the ass, the ass, the ass,” Patterson said on his “I Am All In”- podcast Wednesday.
McCarthy’s character accidentally touched Patterson’s back in the episode “Keg! Max!”, which led to a long stretch about the actor’s backside. The comments apparently continued even after they finished filming.
“I had to go through that whole scene and many takes,” said Patterson, who played Luke Danes. “It was the most disturbing time I’ve ever spent on that set, and I couldn’t wait for that day to be over.
“I didn’t feel comfortable there at all,” he continued of the “disgusting” scene. “I felt really embarrassed, actually.”
The ‘Saw’ star, 63, added that being objectified is ‘just as harmful’ for men as it is for women.
“Just because it was 2003 doesn’t mean it was good,” he explained. “It’s never OK, and I didn’t feel comfortable doing it, and it pissed me off.”
Patterson noted that at the time he “never said anything” to “mak[ing] waves’, which he was ‘angry’ about.
He starred on the show for seven seasons, from 2000 to 2007, and reprized his role for “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” which streamed on Netflix in 2016.
The “Event” alum recently reunited with one of his former co-stars, Chad Michael Murray.
The 41-year-old ‘Cinderella Story’ star played Tristan Dugray in the series and is now collaborating with Patterson on ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’, due out in 2023.
“It’s a Luke/Tristan reunion,” the owner of Scotty P’s Big Mug Coffee tweeted alongside an August 3 selfie with Murray.
