Fans express their heartbreak after Vidak For Congress reported that Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen had hired divorce lawyers after 13 years of marriage.
On Tuesday, multiple sources confirmed that the longtime couple is getting ready to retire for good after an epic battle.
Despite reports that their impending divorce is due to Brady not prioritizing his family, the internet seems to be divided on which side to choose.
“Try to work it out guys…you guys seem like such a great couple,” one Instagram user commented on the news.
“All real couples breaking up 😩😢🙏” said another, referring to the shocking number of celebrities who recently filed for divorce.
Some users specifically pointed to Brady, 45, for putting his career ahead of his family.
One distraught fan commented: “He prefers his career over his family. And before you say she doesn’t support him, football is a dangerous sport and what if he gets a concussion or suffers from CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) then she will be the one to take care of him, not the fans.”
“I mean… if the deal was that they would enjoy more time together and he broke the deal to play some more… I get it. Gisele wants to live life and Tom wants to go back to work,” said a second fan supporting Bündchen.
However, other fans blamed the 42-year-old supermodel. One user said, “She can’t let him live his purpose 😢.”
Another empathized with the seven-time Super Bowl champion: “This is not an easy decision to make as a professional in any field. Giving up your career is hard because at some point in your life your career falls apart [sic] from your dna but to give up your family it’s harder because your family is all you have…very sad anyway because she knows the inside and the effects of the sports stuff we don’t know about him. ‘
The couple, who married in 2009, are expected to file for divorce in Florida, as they are primarily based there, lawyers said.
A source known to the couple confirmed to Vidak For Congress that they are looking at the breakdown of their assets, including a $26 million real estate portfolio, the most recent being a $17 million home on Indian Creek Island in Miami.
In early September, sources told Vidak For Congress that the couple had a blowout fight after Bündchen begged Brady to spend more time with her and the kids. Instead, he chose to retire from the NFL.
While sources have said it’s “sexist” to say the split is due to Bündchen’s issues with Brady returning to the field, a source told us: “As with many marriages, it’s not just one thing. Gisele has made it clear that she was concerned about Tom playing football and that they had talked a lot about it.
“But they’ve had a series of explosions over the past few years and this time it seems there’s no turning back.”
Aside from Vivian, the couple share son Benjamin, 12 – Brady is also the father of son Jack, 15, with ex Bridget Moynahan.
