Actor Elliot Page beamed as he revealed that his life had “improved dramatically” after choosing to live his truth.
The actor – who is known for starring in Netflix’s hit “The Umbrella Academy” – came out as transgender in December 2020 and said his pronouns would be he/she.
In a statement on Instagram, Page announced that his new name would be Elliot.
And while he received waves of mixed reactions from strangers on social media, Page revealed that the people closest to him welcomed the news with open arms.
“I’m very grateful for that,” the 35-year-old said on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
“Most people were not surprised. It’s something I’ve talked about with a lot of people in my life.”
And when it comes to facing negative comments from keyboard warrior-haters online, Page admits he’s learned to brush it off.
“What I want to focus on now, and that has been so extraordinary, is the degree of joy I feel, the degree of presence I feel,” he said.
“I feel in a way I never thought possible for a long time. So that’s really what I focus on and embrace the most. But of course moments can be overwhelming.”
Page said it is “unfortunate” that he continues to face negativity about his decision to switch.
“It’s like we’re all on the same team here, you know? Whether you’re trans, gender non-conforming or Cis (gender), we all have these expectations and these limits and limitations, because of people’s obsession with the binary and how we should all live our lives,” he added. ready.
Page now gushed about his life, saying it has improved “drasically.”
“And I hope that people who have a problem with me might try to hear that or embrace it on some level,” the actor added.
