Demi Moore says she will never cut her hair for a role again

Say goodbye to GI Jane for good.

Demi Moore shaved her head to play a Navy SEAL in Ridley Scott’s 1997 war drama, but told People she’d have a “hard time” chopping off her long locks for such a role today.

“I guess now that I’m older… I don’t have to prove anything. So if they really need my hair differently, they can give me a wig,” said the 59-year-old actress, adding that it’s “not too clear how it would grow back!”

Moore added of her signature locks to the waist, “I’ve done everything on my hair. I shaved it. I dyed it. I’ve had a bob. When I’m not working, I try so little It’s even stressful if someone touches it.”

Plus, she likes that she breaks beauty standards by choosing to wear her hair down to her hips.

“I remember hearing someone say that as women get older, they shouldn’t have long hair. And something about that stuck with me,” Moore said.

She may have made a buzzcut for “GI Jane,” but don’t expect a reboot.

“Like who says? It made me feel, well, if it can grow and it’s not unhealthy, why shouldn’t we? I’m not comfortable with rules that seem to have no real meaning or justification.”

Moore’s beautiful locks are the focus of the new campaign for her Demi Moore x Andie swimwear collection, which includes bikinis and bathing suits, the star told me. Humans are similarly focused on combating age assumptions.

“[Women] doesn’t want to look maternal or feel sexy or desirable. That was really something in my own mind that changes this idea that we become less desirable as we get older,” she said.

It seems Moore passes on that same body positivity to her daughters Rumer, 33, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 28, who she shares with ex-husband Bruce Willis; last summer, all four women joined forces for a family swimsuit shoot for Andie.
