“Cheer” star Jerry Harris has been sentenced to 12 years in prison in his child pornography case, multiple outlets report.
The former cheerleader, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of receiving child pornography and one count of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
According to TMZ, which first reported the news, Harris was joined by friends and family on Wednesday as he awaited his fate.
The disgraced Netflix star was first indicted in September 2020 when the FBI searched his home in Naperville, IL, accusing him of producing child pornography.
Authorities alleged that he asked minors for sex during cheer competitions and forced teenage boys to send inappropriate photos.
The allegations against Harris were detailed in a 28-page complaint, which was filled with disturbing texts and social media exchanges.
“Do it naked and make a video and show it to me,” Harris wrote to a teenage boy on Snapchat after seeing a photo of him performing a cheerleading position known as the needle.
He is said to have made similar advances with the boy’s twin brother.
The charges came just days after the boy’s family filed a $1 million civil suit in Texas court over the alleged abuse.
“Cheer,” which premiered on Netflix in January 2020, followed Harris and his former cheerleaders from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.
