Siblings who tattoo together stay together.
Ray J has been turning heads lately when he debuted a massive new piece of ink featuring his sister Brandy’s face on his leg — and the singer admitted in a recent TMZ interview that she’d be willing to return the tribute. .
When asked by the outlet if she would get a matching tattoo of her little brother, the 43-year-old said, “Yeah, but it won’t be.”
It’s no surprise that the lead singer of “The Boy is Mine” might shy away from Ray-J’s vision.
The piece, designed by Alexey Mashkov, has a huge representation of Brandy’s face with the words “Best friends”, “4ever” and “From Ray with love” written on her face, along with bloodshot eyes.
While Brandy may not be quick on board for a huge Ray J face inked on her body, she said she’d go for a more subtle approach.
“His name, something simple,” said the “Sitting Up in My Room” singer. “Maybe in the back of my ear.”
“I had to start with my best friend!!” the rapper, 41, wrote on Instagram after getting the new tattoo, explaining that eventually he wanted a full leg piece including ink inspired by things like “music”, “writings”, “the vocal bible”, “spirits” and other designs.
While Brandy admitted she “didn’t understand it at first,” she told TMZ that her brother “explained it to me and showed me the full page of the tattoo artist and it was amazing.”
“It was meant to be,” she said, pausing to take selfies with fans along the Hollywood Walk of Fame as she spoke to the media.
“It’s like a Basquiat-esque style,” she added, referring to the famous neo-expressionist painter.
The “Sexy Can I” singer also defended his ink after fans called it “cringy.”
“It’s my leg, it’s my sister,” he said, adding, “I love my sister and that was just a symbol of my thank you for putting me in it.”
