Another O’Day, another Photoshop scandal involving Aubrey O’Day.
Just over a year after the former Danity Kane member announced she was leaving the United States to start a “new life” abroad, she found herself in hot water for flooding her new private Instagram feed. with supposedly altered holiday photos.
The photos in question — which began taking up space on the singer’s grid immediately after her move in July 2021 — show the blonde bombshell posing seductively on incredibly picture-perfect beaches, clad in cut-out clothes in lush rainforests and holding vigorous yoga poses atop picturesque rocks.
According to O’Day’s geotags, almost all of the photos were taken in Bali, Indonesia. However, social media users are not buying it.
TikToker @residualdata, whose name is Sophie, believes the singer “went around Bali on this holiday just by photoshopping herself into pictures”.
“It’s really every picture,” Sophie commented as several messages from O’Day flashed across the screen. “I don’t even know if she went to Indonesia at all.”
Sophie chose specific photos to analyze, including one of the singer wearing an elaborate red dress as she swung from bungee cords tied to palm trees and looked out over a waterfall.
“She just steals content from other content creators or Photoshops herself on random promotional images,” Sophie claimed.
The 38-year-old “Making the Band” accompanies her impressive posts with equally thought-provoking captions.
“There is no linear fashion in life, it is confusing, unbelievable, difficult, beautiful and surprising … no guide can give you that,” read part of the caption of her red dress swing photo. “Reading a mystery is much more exciting than a textbook. So let’s enjoy the pages of our lives as we write them 🤍🙏🏽.”
But Sophie is not alone in her criticism of the singer, because Instagram users have been calling on her social media activity for months.
‘Your dress can’t blow into the wind like this. This photo goes against all the laws of nature lol,” “She stole this photo straight from a catalog breh ” and “We love a photoshopped background 🙊” are just some of the comments fans have left on the luxury of the star understands.
Jokes aside, Sophie points out that O’Day’s supposedly staged photos could be perpetuating the decline in users’ self-esteem.
“Why are we doing this in an age where social comparison is so high and has real effects?”
The singer has since made her account private. O’Day representatives did not immediately respond to Vidak For Congress’s request for comment.
